John Paul II didn't visit Egypt to dialogue with Orthodox. He visited it as a first step in his pilgrimage to the "Holy Lands" on the steps of Jesus, Moses, Abraham, etc...

Yes.. There are two major Orthodox families, the Chalcedoneans (called by the Catholics, Eastern Orthodox) and the Non-Chalcedoneans, called Oriental Orthocox.
But sorry.. The first spans Coptic Othodox, while Roman (Rum) Orthodox belongs to the second. Look them up in Wikipedia.

By the way, you can edit Wikipedia's article to mention the Pope's visit to Egypt. That's the idea of Wiki. Don't worry about not having an elegant style. Someone else will take care of that. In fact some Wikizines beleive that you should either add information or beautify and enhance wording, not both at the same time.ألِفhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12671465044126757555noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7121976.post-1112570049790291312005-04-03T16:14:00.000-07:002005-04-03T16:14:00.000-07:00dear Anonymous...just visit http://www.aljazeera.n...dear Anonymous...
just visit
http://www.aljazeera.net/NR/exeres/3B1AFEC1-C992-4B4A-81B0-257AD59316ED.htm
and read the links on the left
even if you consider yourself coming from March, you will notice the "ta7shish" written there

it's strange that they didn't mension his visit to egypt
but, the word "Orthodox" in the whole world means whan we call
روم أرثذكس
which are more Bysantic, they are mainly in Russia, Eastern Europe, Greece, Cyprus, a little in Egypt and Middle East, their central capital was what is now Istanbul in Turkey, their negotiations with the Catholic Church is the most succesful one

this is different from the 5 monophisic Churches (Copts in Egypt, Syrians in "blad el sham", Armenian in Armenia & Lebanon, "أحباش" in Eithiopia, Malabar in India) wich was named by their name till the 20's century (mabe late 19's) when they added the word "Orthodox" and the discussion between then and the Catholic Church still in defining the words' meaning, as one member in the theological talks told me, but it's moving forword.

mabe that's why they neclect the talks with the Coptic Orthodox ChurchEnsan Kadimhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01421808644076623027noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7121976.post-1112548376747527082005-04-03T10:12:00.000-07:002005-04-03T10:12:00.000-07:00لقد سبقتنى فى التعليق .... لن أعلق هنا لأنى و ضعت ...لقد سبقتنى فى التعليق .... لن أعلق هنا لأنى و ضعت تعليقى على الصفحة الخاصة بى

http://ensankhorda.blogspot.com/2005/04/may-18-1920april-2-2005.htmlإنسان خردة للبيعhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06838509879208350421noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7121976.post-1112511229669542532005-04-02T22:53:00.000-08:002005-04-02T22:53:00.000-08:00can you post a link to the jazeera article you men...can you post a link to the jazeera article you mentioned?

btw noticed the Pope's Wiki Pedia page does not mention his visit to Egypt at all even when the relationship with orthodox church is discussed.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
